Matthew John Quirey is from Blackwell, Oklahoma. He studied horticulture at Oklahoma State University (BS) and the University of Delaware (MS) focusing on public horticulture and cultural landscape issues. As a Longwood Fellow, he traveled the northeast United States and Southeast Asia studying contemporary management issues of public horticulture and cultural landscapes. At the University of Georgia, he completed a Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) degree and focused his research on improving roadside landscape design. Matthew’s background in horticulture and cultural landscape management will compliment his vision as a landscape architect to connect people to the environment, improving communities through thoughtful and sustainable design.
