The City and Borough of Wrangell is a small community located on an island in central southeast Alaska, which is only accessible by plane or boat. The community has a significantly large senior population, as 29% of the residents are 65 years of age or older. The community is known for its strong American Indian and Alaskan Native culture, economic resiliency, and growing tourism.

The city is working towards the comprehensive development planning process of a 40-acre deep-water marine industrial site that the Borough recently purchased to provide economic and sustainable growth opportunities for the community.

The City and Borough received technical assistance from The Ray and its partners to win a monumental grant worth $25 million for their “Wrangell Harbor Basin Revitalization and Transportation Resiliency Project,” which will provide resources to redesign unsafe and outdated infrastructure in the Inner Harbor area.
