Osceola, Arkansas, is located along the Mississippi River. The city grew as steamboat traffic increased, and now it is home to several manufacturing facilities. Osceola has approximately 6,500 residents, but its population is decreasing by 2.34% annually.
The Port of Osceola offers connectivity to Class I rail service through BNSF and highway connections to I-40 and I-55. The port has nearly 100 acres available for development. Mississippi County has been the nation’s leading steel manufacturer for 10 years. With the addition of the new steel plants, Osceola is now the first in steel production and has two sizable steel mills in the area. Osceola is working to rebuild and transform its infrastructure.
The Ray and its partners assisted in identifying strategic ways to reduce freight traffic, providing guidance to determine the feasibility of an industrial corridor to bypass the residential zone and traffic calming.
