The Nisqually Indian Tribe is a federally recognized Indian tribe in Thurston County, Washington. As of 2020, the Tribe had a service area population of 5,719 Native Americans, 825 of whom are enrolled Nisqually and reside on the reservation. An additional 5,119 of the service population live off the reservation in Thurston and Pierce Counties.
The community has grown to become one of the largest employers in Thurston County while building a national reputation for environmental stewardship programs protecting and enhancing the natural environment. The Nisqually Tribe has had historic economic challenges and is focused on becoming self-sufficient and maintaining fiscal prosperity, as well as creating and maintaining energy structures that are resilient and sustainable,
The Ray and its partners provided general planning advisory on a decarbonization plan for the community, including developing renewable energy resources, electric vehicle fleet conversion, and charging infrastructure.
