The Ray is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Georgia that was founded in 2015 by Harriet Langford, the daughter of Ray C. Anderson. The CEO of flooring company Interface, Anderson ignited a global movement towards sustainable business practice when he had the courage to ask, “What if?” The Ray is the next leap in that journey, born of the same question: “What if we reimagine transportation in a way that’s safer, more responsive to the climate, more regenerative to the environment, and more  capable of generating economic opportunity—today and for generations?” At The Ray C. Anderson Memorial Highway on Interstate 85 in West Georgia, we are now catalyzing net-zero transportation infrastructure across the nation on a real-world test bed—zero carbon, zero waste, zero deaths. Leading the way with some of the world’s boldest thinking and most promising innovation, we have built more than a dozen projects that are changing the facts on the ground in transportation, building confidence in new innovations and showing that the technologies to achieve net-zero in transportation already exist.

Our mission is to reimagine how we connect our communities, our lives, and the world in a way that’s safer, more responsive to the climate, more regenerative to the environment, and more capable of creating economic opportunity, through innovative ideas and technologies that will transform transportation infrastructure.
