July 3, 2018 (West Point, GA) — Last week, TOTO donated and installed 15 low flow toilets and flush valves at the Georgia Visitor Information Center (VIC) located on The Ray at Exit 1. The water-powered turbine in the EcoPower TOTO toilet flush valve generates its own power by charging the power supply during usage, and provides maximum performance in even the most demanding, high-traffic commercial spaces.

“The partnership with TOTO is a natural fit,” said The Ray’s founder and president Harriet Langford, “We share common core values around protecting the environment through innovating for a better future.”

“TOTO is excited to be part of the vision of sustainability that Ray C. Anderson has for our world. We are honored to support The Ray,” said TOTO President of Operations and Ecommerce, Bill Strang. “TOTO has chosen commercial toilets and flush valves that represent the very best in water conservation while using the innovative EcoPower micro turbine system within the flush valve that generates it own power to operate the sensors and flush valve. This allows the toilets that were installed at the visitor center on The Ray to operate off the grid and flush at the reduced WaterSense level of 1.28 gallons per flush.”

“Each of our Visitor Information Centers acts as Georgia’s front porch, providing a welcoming environment to receive a wide range of travel assistance including trip planning ideas, travel guides and access to clean restrooms,” said Brittney Gray, Director of the Georgia Visitor Information Centers. “With the new facilities from TOTO, the West Point VIC is able to provide an enhanced experience for each of our guests.”

This donation replaced the majority of toilets and flush valves in the VIC. The VIC along The Ray welcomes around 700,000 visitors annually.

About The Ray
The Ray is a proving ground for the evolving ideas and technologies that will transform the transportation infrastructure of the future, beginning with the corridor of road that is named in memory of Ray C. Anderson (1934-2011), a Georgia native who became a captain of industry and was recognized as a leader in green business when he challenged his company, Atlanta-based Interface, Inc., to reimagine the enterprise as a sustainable company—one that would pursue zero environmental footprint. Chaired by Ray’s daughter Harriet Langford, The Ray is an epiphany of the Ray C. Anderson Foundation. Learn more at www.theray.org.

About TOTO
TOTO is inspired by a desire to improve everyone’s quality of life. Through almost a century rich with innovation, TOTO has changed the perception of what a bathroom can be — and how it can be used. Their founder, Kazuchika Okura, had a vision more than one hundred years ago in 1912, before the concept of public sewage systems was widespread in Japan. After seeing more advanced systems overseas, he was moved to establish a ceramic sanitary ware laboratory to develop healthier and cleaner living spaces. In 1917, Okura founded Toyo Toki K.K. (which became known as TOTO LTD.) to supply the market with these products. TOTO was founded on a commitment to provide a comfortable living space for people, while always protecting the planet and its water. Learn more.
