Motor vehicle accidents remain a major public safety challenge, but recent progress offers hope. Preliminary NHTSA data estimates 39,345 traffic fatalities in 2024, down 3.8% from 40,901 in 2023. This marks the first year since 2020 that fatalities have dropped below 40,000. While encouraging, safety continues to be a top mobility priority.

Energy infrastructure along transportation corridors offers a powerful solution to pressing energy challenges. By leveraging public land that is already available, we can bypass common hurdles like permitting delays and land acquisition challenges. This approach provides a ready-made national network for essential infrastructure, including high-voltage transmission lines, solar arrays, and electric vehicle (EV) charging hubs.
